Lemon Millefleur Sablepoot Bantams – Rare & Stunning Feathered Beauties

The Lemon Millefleur Sablepoot is a true bantam, meaning it has no large fowl counterpart. This breed is admired for its extravagant feathering on its legs, known as vulture hocks, and its striking millefleur plumage, which translates to “a thousand flowers” due to its speckled feather pattern.

Temperament & Care

Lemon Millefleur Sablepoots are gentle, friendly birds, making them ideal for backyard flocks. They are excellent foragers and are said to cause less damage to gardens due to their heavily feathered feet. While they thrive in free-range environments, many breeders prefer to keep them on soft bedding to maintain their delicate leg feathers.

Egg Production

Sablepoot hens are moderate layers, producing small white or tinted eggs. Their egg production is respectable for bantams, especially during the summer months.

History & Recognition

The Sablepoot Bantam is closely related to the Belgian Bearded d’Uccle, sharing similar feather traits but differing in height and the presence of a beard. The breed has been popular across Europe for centuries and was officially recognized by the American Poultry Association in 1879.
