Product Description
The Lavender Pekin Chicken is a unique and beautiful breed. Here’s some detailed information about this breed:
Origin: Lavender Pekins belong to the Pekin Bantam family, which originated from China. They are true bantams, meaning they have no large fowl counterpart.
Appearance: Lavender Pekin Bantams are covered in feathers, including their legs and feet. Their feathers are either straight or frizzled. They come with a single red comb.
Size: They are compact bantams, only growing about 11 inches tall.
Color: The lavender color in chickens is a recessive gene. A bird must have two sets of the gene, one from the father and one from the mother, to have the lavender coloration.
Temperament: These marvelous, compact bantams are full of personality. As they have feathered feet, they don’t scratch and forage as much, so they do less damage to the garden. However, as with all feathered feet breeds, they will require checking regularly and are best kept on well-draining ground.
This breed is not only beautiful but also has a unique personality that makes them a great addition to any backyard flock. If you’re interested in raising chickens, the Lavender Pekin could be a great choice! 👍
Egg Color/ Approximate eggs per year:
Lavender Pekin Bantams lay eggs that are very pale, creamy-colored. This color can range from white to cream.
